March 2-6, 2026

It is hard to believe we are ready to begin the month of March! As time seems to quickly pass us by, it is important that we always take a moment to pause and to truly appreciate everything and everyone around us. We share a beautiful world together, and we are all truly lucky to know one another and to be able to create wonderful memories with each other. All the good that we do together, for each other, and for others in need, is a true reflection of our dedication and belief in our Gospel Values. We are all part of God's community.

Language: This week we will continue learning about fiction stories and how they are designed. We will be learning about the elements of a narrative story (character, setting, conflict, plot, resolution) in order to write our own narrative using the Shape Go Map for reference!

***The Gr. 3 classes are in the process of booking a fun field trip for June to Upper Canada Village! If you have not already paid your child's student activity fee please do so we can ensure this trip is available to all. We are hopeful that we will be able to have many parent volunteers join us. In order to comply with our school board's requirements please go to this web-page to ensure you have the proper documentation needed to be able to join us.***

February 2-6, 2026

We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday, February 13th. We will be doing a Valentine's card exchange. We are asking that students do not bring in any food to share (candies, chocolates, etc.) due to allergies. If your child cannot remember the names of their classmates, they can simply just write their own name in the 'From' section!

***Student Activity Fees***  Please remember to pay your child's student activity fees via School Cash On Line promptly. Many students have not yet paid and we have many special crafts, activities and a trip to Upper Canada Village to attend and pay for. If your family is having difficulty paying, please call the school office and let them know. Thank you to those families who have already paid!

In math, we have begun our new unit on patterning. This week our focus is on number patterns (both growing and shrinking).

In language we continue to work on our non-fiction animal reports. Students are writing three paragraphs with each paragraph focusing on a particular aspect of their animal. They must determine the important facts that work together to write paragraphs that will help their peers learn about the animal they have chosen. We are writing in complete paragraphs which include an opening sentence, three supporting details, and a closing sentence. Once finished they will present their project to their peers.

Last Thursday you should have received a package filled with work your child has done. Inside the package you should have found a reading comprehension assignment titled "Snowshoe Adventure". Comprehension is being able to reflect and understand the deeper meanings in a story and being able to answer questions about that content without the "answer" always being directly written in the text. It is the ability to infer, and to respond to a question using support from the text to prove/support your answer. Please refer to the assignment that was sent home and look at the marking rubric ( Scoring and Exemplars) to see how your child is progressing.
