EQAO - thank you for your continued support as we prepare for the provincial EQAO testing. Booklet #4 was sent home on Friday. Even if students do not finish, please have your child bring the booklet back to school the following week so they can follow & write down their learning as we review the answers!
Language: this week we will continue learning about poetry, both by writing poems of our own and showing our understanding of written poetry by answering questions. Once our unit on poetry is complete we will begin learning about persuasive writing and will start writing our own persuasive letter.
New WWW: lovable, were, thought, impossible, independent
Math: We continue to learn about money this week. Once we have completed out unit on money we will begin probability. Probability is the chance of something happening. We use spinners and number cubes. Our fraction skills will be quite useful. Probability vocabulary: chance, likely, unlikely, certain, possible, impossible, ratio.
Science: This week we continue our study of plants. We will be watching, measuring and inspecting how our bulbs are growing both in soil as well as those being forced in water. We will be working on two side by side experiments and tracking the growth of our plants frequently.
End of Year Field Trip!
We will be going by bus to Upper Canada Village (rain or shine) on Wed. June 10th. Our bus will leave the school around 9:15 and we will return to school at approximately 4:15 p.m. A permission form will be sent home closer to the day. There are 2 important items that must be taken care of for this special event to take place:
1 - All student activity fees ($30) must be paid via School Cash On-line in order to cover the expenses of this trip as well as our other extra learning initiatives. If you are having trouble accessing the portal please contact the school office directly.
2 - We would love to have some volunteers join us for this trip. All volunteers will need to meet us at Upper Canada Village as we have two full classes this year and the bus will not hold extras. If you are able to drive other volunteers, please let us know and we can offer your extra space to those without a vehicle that day! In order for you to be a volunteer on this trip, you must be on the approved school volunteer list. Please click this link to be approved! Become an Approved OCSB Volunteer
