Language: This week we will review the differences between fiction and non-fiction writing. We will be looking for the features that help us know a text is non-fiction (table of contents, photographs, glossary, index, captions, etc.). In the next few weeks we will then be researching, determining important ideas and writing non-fiction report style explanatory paragraphs on an interesting animal. We will also continue to work on showing our understanding of a given text (self read) by answering questions about the text using full sentences and examples (from the text) to support our answer.
Our new WWW for the week are: terrible, everything, trouble, everybody, hidden
Math: We have completed our 3D shapes unit and we have started our measurement unit. We will be learning about millimetres, centimetres, metres, and kilometres and when to use each unit. We will be measuring lines and measuring from zero on the ruler. Towards the end of the unit, we will be determining the area and perimeter of various polygons.
Science: We are continuing to learn about forces. This week we learn about static electricity.
