January 19-23, 2026

Monday, Jan. 19 is United in Black Day (raising awareness of the struggles Black and racialized people have faced and continue to face). Please wear a black t-shirt to stand against anti-black racism!

Math: We will continue to work on our measurement unit. We will be calculating the perimeter and area of a two-dimensional shape and finishing up this portion of measurement. Our next math unit will be patterning!

Language: We ran out of time to begin our non-fiction learning last week. We will begin it this week and then will write non-fiction paragraphs (about an animal) by determining important ideas that we have read or found, via a google search. Next we will put those ideas into our own words (this is very hard) according to topic. We will also be working on our reading comprehension skills. Here is a visual of what we are looking for when students answer questions posed to them after reading a given text!

WWW: about, new, knew, no, know

Science:
We are continuing to work on forces. We will be learning about gravity this week!
